The alternator, air-conditioning, and power steering are driven by drivebelts in 2001-2002 Acura and 2003-2004 Honda models except that a single serpentine belt is used in 2003+ Acura and 2005+Honda models. Thus, regular inspection for cracks, fraying, and wear is highly important. Power steering belts can be checked by applying a force of 20 lbs. However, ribbed belts have marks to show wear. To adjust the power steering belt tension means you have to loosen the mounting bolt and then make use of an adjuster bolt. To replace ribbed belts, the automatic tensioner is released so that the new belt may be centered on the pulleys. In order to replace an automatic tensioner release the drivebelt centre new belt on the pulleys.

Turn it around so that both sides can be seen. Also check fraying (fibers sticking out), and glazing (belt with shiny appearance). Nicks, cracks, distortion and corrosion on pulleys should also be examined. Bear in mind that ribbed belts often develop small cracks on their ribs' edges; such belts do not necessarily need replacement as long as these cracks are not extensive or very deep. An automatic tensioner adjusts drivebelt tensioning force level. Look at wear indicator on tensioner itself. Marks must fit into specified range; otherwise the belt will need replacing. Also look at how path of drivebelt across other devices in your vehicle is laid out before removing it from pulleys completely thus use a suitable spanner-wrench to release all the tension applied by springs onto this belt's body which holds it taut against other parts by rotating anti-clockwise direction but away from engine block when mounted through crankshaft pulley center bolt until new drive-belt mounts over relevant crankshaft oscillator mountings such as alternator support bracket, idler bearing(s), A/C clutch plate assembly and finally yank up slowly backwards towards its each side till full contact made against corresponding trackways then let go of tensioner. Take off the drivebelt as previously described. Remove bolts that hold tensioner to engine block and disconnect it from the engine. Tensioner pulley can be individually replaced, if need arise. Install is backwards steps to removal hence make sure tightening happens on tensioner(in case) and pulley bolts again.
