Models equipped with air conditioning have two complete fan circuits-one for the condenser and one for the radiator. The following procedures apply to both. To test a fan motor, disconnect the electrical connector at the motor and use jumper wires to connect the fan directly to the battery. If the fan still doesn't work, replace the motor. If the motor tests OK, check the fuse and relay, the fan switch, the condenser fan relay if equipped, or the wiring which connects the components. On 1997 and earlier Integra models, the condenser fan relay is mounted directly in front of the condenser on the driver's side of the engine compartment. To test the radiator fan switch, remove the switch electrical connector and, using an ohmmeter, check for continuity across the terminals of the switch with the engine cold. The switch should not have continuity while the coolant is below 189 degrees F. Start the engine and allow the engine to reach normal operating temperature. Stop the engine and check for continuity again. The radiator fan switch should show continuity when the coolant temperature reaches 196 to 203-degrees F, and above. If the switch fails to show continuity above this temperature, replace it. The air conditioning condenser fan is controlled by the ECM. If the condenser fan fails to operate with the air conditioning On after all other checks have been completed, check for a low refrigerant charge or have the ECM diagnosed by a dealership service department or other qualified repair facility. This procedure applies to either fan. Disconnect the battery cable from the negative battery terminal. Set the parking brake and block the rear wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely with jackstands. Remove the lower splash pan, if equipped, from under the radiator. Insert a small screwdriver into the connector to lift the lock tab and disconnect the fan wiring. Remove the fan lower mounting bolt(s). Unbolt the fan upper mounting bolts. Carefully lift the fan out of the engine compartment. To detach the fan from the motor, remove the motor shaft nut. To detach the fan motor from the shroud, remove the mounting screws. Installation is the reverse of removal.
