Disconnect several electrical connectors including fuel injectors, engine coolant temperature sensor, temperature gauge sender, TDC/crankshaft/camshaft position sensor, crankshaft fluctuation sensor, ignition coil, throttle position sensor, manifold absolute pressure sensor, evap purge control solenoid, VTEC solenoid, VTEC pressure switch, idle air control valve, and intake air bypass control solenoid.

It is essential to check with local automotive parts stores for price and availability of complete assemblies, both long and short block, as well as individual repair parts.

Remove the crankshaft pulley, disconnect the exhaust system, and support the transaxle with a jack.

Start the reassembly procedure with the next step, as the valves and related components will already be in place.

If the inspection reveals that the valve components are in poor condition and worn beyond specified limits, reassemble the valves in the cylinder head.

Check for nicks, deep scratches, and other damage, using a file for slight damage and considering machining for excessive damage.

Essential equipment includes a heavy-duty floor jack, complete sets of wrenches and sockets, wooden blocks, and plenty of rags and cleaning solvent for mopping up spilled oil, coolant, and gasoline.
