Relieve the fuel pressure and then disconnect the negative cable from the battery. Drain the coolant into a clean container. Clearly label, then detach all wires, hoses, and brackets attached to the intake manifold. Remove the alternator and power steering pump. Detach the spark plug wires from the spark plugs and wire holders, leaving them connected at the distributor. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the throttle body and remove the fuel injectors, lines, and hoses. Detach the air suction pipe from the front exhaust manifold. Remove the mounting nuts/bolts, then detach the manifold from the engine, taking care not to pry between the gasket mating surfaces to avoid damage. Carefully use a scraper to remove all traces of old gasket material and sealant from the manifold and cylinder heads, then clean the mating surfaces with lacquer thinner or acetone. If necessary, remove the bolts/nuts and separate the manifold and bypass valve body, then reassemble with new gaskets and tighten securely. Install new gaskets, then position the manifold on the engine, ensuring the gaskets haven't shifted, and install the nuts/bolts. Tighten the nuts/bolts in three equal steps to the specified torque, working from the center out towards the ends to avoid warping the manifold. Install the remaining parts in the reverse order of removal. Refill the cooling system, run the engine, and check for fuel, vacuum, and coolant leaks.
