    Q:
How Do I Remove and Install a front Shock Absorber and Coil Springs? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the shock absorber assembly, start by loosening the wheel lug nuts, raising the vehicle, and securing it with jackstands. Remove the wheel. Then, unbolt the brake hose from the shock absorber assembly and disconnect the stabilizer bar from the lower control arm. Position a floor jack beneath the lower control arm to provide support during shock absorber removal. Proceed to remove the damper fork pinch bolt and the damper fork-to-lower control arm bolt, detaching the fork from the shock absorber. Support the shock absorber and coil spring assembly, and take off the two upper mounting nuts, ensuring not to remove the larger center nut. Carefully remove the unit from the fenderwell. For installation, guide the shock absorber assembly into the fenderwell and insert the upper mounting studs through the body holes. Install the nuts to prevent the assembly from falling back through, without fully tightening them yet. Enlist assistance due to the weight of the shock absorber. Insert the lower end of the shock absorber into the damper fork, ensuring alignment between the tab on the shock body and the slot in the fork. Connect the damper fork to the lower control arm, simulate normal ride height by raising the lower control arm with the floor jack, then tighten the self-locking nut and the damper fork pinch bolt. Reconnect the stabilizer bar to the control arm, secure the brake hose to its bracket, and tighten the bolt firmly. Install the wheel, tighten the lug nuts, lower the vehicle, and further tighten the lug nuts. Finally, complete the process by tightening the upper mounting nuts.

    Q:
How to replace a Shock Absorber/Coil Spring Assembly? Posted by Customer
    A:
Inspect the shock absorber for damage and the coil spring for chips or cracks. Mount the assembly in a vise, marking the damper base's relationship to the spring. Install the spring compressor and relieve pressure from the damper base. Remove the damper cap, unscrew the self-locking nut, and lift the compressed spring. Slide the parts off the damper shaft, install the bump stop, dust cover, and plate onto the new damper unit. Extend the damper shaft and slide the components down. Place the coil spring onto the shock absorber body, install the mounting rubber, collar, base, seal, washer, and a new self-locking nut. Align the marks on the base and spring, tighten the nut, remove the spring compressor, install the damper cap and the assembly.
