Remove the heat shield from the exhaust manifold by lifting it off after removing the bolts, soaking the bolts and nuts with penetrating oil beforehand. Then, take off the exhaust manifold nuts and detach the manifold from the cylinder head. For installation, discard the old gasket and clean the gasket mating surfaces on both the manifold and cylinder head with a scraper, followed by a rag soaked in lacquer thinner or acetone.
