Acura Legend A/C Condenser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace a condenser in an air conditioning system on Acura Legend?
A: Have the refrigerant discharged and recycled by an air conditioning technician. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery. On Legend models, remove the grille and front bulkhead cross member for access. On lntegra models, remove the front bumper. Remove the center vertical brace and latch assembly, if necessary. Disconnect the inlet and outlet fittings. On the Legend, the fittings are both on the passenger's side. On lntegras, there is one fitting on each side. Cap the open fittings immediately to keep moisture and dirt out of the system. Remove the condenser mounting bolts/nuts and lift the condenser out. Install the condenser, brackets and bolts, making sure the rubber cushions fit on the mounting points properly. Reconnect the refrigerant lines, using new O-rings where needed. Reinstall the remaining parts in the reverse order of removal. Have the system evacuated, charged and leak tested by the shop that discharged it. If the condenser is being replaced, add 1/3 ounce of refrigeration oil.
