Remove the wheel, loosen the lug nuts, raise the front of the vehicle and support securely on jackstands. Then, remove the tie-rod end and jam nut. Loosen the rack and pinion boot clamps and slide off the boot; the outer clamps like a hose clamp, the inner requires cutting off. Before attempting to install the new boot, wrap the threads on the end of the tie rod with a bit of tape to keep the new boot from damaging the small end of the new boot. Once the new boot is in place, slide the new boot so that each end sits in its groove, and install and tighten the new clamps. And then take the tape off and install the tie-rod end. Then you install the wheel and lug nuts, put the vehicle down, and then fully tighten lug nuts to the specified torque.
